Osh State University recently hosted a captivating intellectual competition titled ‘Language - the beginning of unity and culture,” commemorating the university’s 85th anniversary. The event, organized by the university’s language and cultural centers, showcased the rich linguistic and cultural diversity prevalent among its student body.

The competition unfolded across five stimulating stages, each offering a unique opportunity for students to showcase their talents and linguistic prowess. From heartfelt greetings to soul-stirring poetry recitals and captivating cultural presentations, participants mesmerized audiences in languages spanning Kyrgyz, Russian, English, German, Spanish, Turkish, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.

Guiding the proceedings was the esteemed Vice-Rector for External Relations, Kursantbek Attaqurov, who extended warm greetings and best wishes to all contestants, setting the tone for a vibrant and intellectually stimulating event.

The crowning glory of the competition was the triumph of the “Samurai” team representing the Japanese language, claiming the prestigious main prize. Not far behind, the “Shanyraq” team representing the Kazakh language secured the coveted first place, closely followed by the dynamic “The World Viaduct” and “Kolomto” teams representing English and Kyrgyz respectively, sharing the second spot. Meanwhile, a diverse array of teams representing Russian, Chinese, and Turkish languages clinched the third position.

In addition to the main awards, several special nominations recognized outstanding achievements in various categories, including poetry, video production, national attire, creative storytelling, and overall creativity.

Beyond the thrill of competition, the event served a profound purpose – fostering deeper interlingual and intercultural connections, enriching understanding, and nurturing creative expression among students. By highlighting the invaluable role of language in fostering unity and celebrating diversity, Osh State University reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing global citizens equipped with the skills and sensibilities to thrive in an interconnected world.
