Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, took part in an anniversary event organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Kyrgyz-Japanese Center for Human Development (KRJC) in Bishkek.
The event, organized by the JICA Office in Kyrgyzstan and KRJC on January 30, was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of JICA’s representation and the Japanese volunteer program in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the 30th anniversary of KRJC.
During the meeting, the results of long-term cooperation between Japan and Kyrgyzstan were reviewed, and future prospects for partnership in the fields of human resource development, education, and science were discussed.
The anniversary event highlighted the international scientific project SATREPS, jointly implemented by Osh State University and the Tokyo Institute of Science, as a successful example of Japanese-Kyrgyz scientific cooperation. Within the framework of the project, the IRCAPS Scientific Center for Air Pollution Research was established at Osh State University.
In addition to Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov, the event was attended by project coordinator Roman Kalmatov, Professor Nobutoshi Nawata of the Tokyo Institute of Science, and PhD student Aiperi Asanbek kyzy. As part of the event, the rector met with JICA Vice President Yoshifumi Yoshikawa and the Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan, Ryuichi Hirano.
The SATREPS Program is the first large-scale scientific project in the history of Kyrgyzstan implemented in cooperation with Japan.
