Professor Kurmanali Matikeev’s Book Published in English in the USA
In May 2025, a new book by Professor Kurmanali Matikeev of Osh State University, titled Historical Geography of the Kyrgyz Nation, was released in English by Publishing Genie, based in California, USA.
This scholarly work presents a fresh perspective on the complex history of the rise and fall of various states and political entities across the territory of present-day Kyrgyzstan and surrounding regions. Through a geographical lens, the book explores the formation of modern ethnic groups in Central Asia and the Altai region, particularly focusing on the Kyrgyz people.

Professor Kurmanali Matikeev, a Doctor of Science, is a prominent educator and mentor in the Kyrgyz Republic. He is a well-respected scholar across Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, and Eurasia. His research bridges physical and historical geography, with a particular emphasis on interpreting past events through the lens of the Kyrgyz epic Manas, a treasured cultural heritage.
Unlike conventional approaches to the study of Kyrgyz history, Matikeev employs innovative, interdisciplinary methods rooted in critical and creative thinking. His academic contributions include around 200 scientific articles and 29 educational, methodological, and popular science books.
