On June 4, Osh State University Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov welcomed a delegation from Jeonbuk National University of Korea, led by Professor Choi Seung-hu, to discuss ongoing and future cooperation.
The two universities have been engaged in joint scientific research for the past two years, focusing on improving the breeding quality of local cattle breeds—specifically the Ala-Too and Kara-Ala. The goal is to enhance the milk and meat productivity of these breeds and eventually match the standards of livestock raised in Korea.
As part of this project, cattle from a farmer specializing in the Ala-Too breed in Batken's Kadamjai district were analyzed and samples were sent to a Korean research center. This research is currently in progress, with scientists planning to publish their findings in reputable academic journals.
“In addition to joint research, we aim to train our scientists and students, promote artificial insemination among farmers, and conduct DNA analysis of cows and sheep to assess the quality of their milk and meat,” explained Professor Abdugany Abdurasulov of Osh State University.
Rector Kozhobekov expressed the university’s full support for future collaborative initiatives.
The Institute of Natural Sciences, Physical Education, Tourism, and Agricultural Technologies at Osh State University includes programs in agronomy and veterinary science. The institute also hosts a veterinary teaching clinic, scientific laboratories, and research centers.
