Conference on the Development of Financial Autonomy of Universities
The project "Development of Financial Autonomy of Universities of Kyrgyzstan" supported by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union conducted its first meeting on February 1-2, 2023. Rasul Avazbek uulu, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Almaz Ibraev, the minister advisor, G.R Isaeva, the national coordinator of the Erasmus+ representative office in Kyrgyzstan, and university rectors attended the conference, which was held at the I. Razakov Kyrgyz State Technical University in Bishkek.
At the conference, the Osh State University President Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov made a presentation on the structure, implemented works, accomplishments, and technical foundation of the university.
Acts of law and regulations are being established as part of the implementation of the President's decree providing special status to five universities. In this way, the project satisfies the strategic development objectives of the universities and paves the path for the transfer of universities to independent financial management.
The DEFA project's goals are to create, evaluate, and ultimately grow a new system of financial self-management for the university. The DEFA project will examine the potential for strengthening the financial independence of universities and establish a model that has been legally approved. Based on it, the powers of universities of Kyrgyzstan in financial activities will be specified.
