I sincerely congratulate you on the Independence Day of our country, a source of national pride, and on Knowledge Day, the great celebration of education and science! May the new academic year be a successful year that brings us closer to achieving our new goals!

Education is the fundamental foundation of a country’s development, the future of society, and the success of every individual. Therefore, may the new academic year become the beginning of new goals, new aspirations, and new opportunities for each of us.

This year is particularly important for Kyrgyzstan. Our country is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its independence. Over the years of independence, the potential of our country in education, science, culture, medicine, and other fields has continued to expand, placing great responsibility on the new generation.

This year, Kyrgyzstan is also hosting the VI World Nomad Games, once again highlighting our national values, cultural heritage, unity, and unique identity recognized around the world. These important events encourage the younger generation to embrace patriotism, respect national values, and take responsibility for the future of our country. Our university community has also actively contributed to these major events rather than remaining on the sidelines.

We are welcoming this new academic year amid major changes and historical developments in our country, as well as significant achievements at OshSU. In recent years, major reforms in the economy, infrastructure, and digitalization have been successfully implemented, putting our country on a path of sustainable development. In line with the country’s strong development momentum, OshSU has become a global center of education and innovation.

This year, our university, determined to reach the global stage, ranked 316th among 1,526 higher education institutions in the QS Asia Rankings, placing it among the top 22 universities in Central Asia. In the global QS Sustainability Rankings, OshSU ranked 1,251st for its environmental and social impact and 1,107th for governance, confidently entering the global Top 1,500. Earlier, the university received 4 Stars in the QS Stars assessment. These achievements clearly demonstrate that our university is transforming into a fourth-generation research university (University 4.0).

Dear first-year students joining our community!

Dear young friends, you have earned the honor of being students of OshSU, which has received Special Status by Presidential Decree! The university’s educational process is fully organized according to the principles of modern credit-based education. The tuition agreement is based on the cost of one credit, allowing you, from the very first semester, to choose the subjects and instructors you prefer and create your own individual learning trajectory. In this process, you will be supported by the highly convenient MyEDU platform, fully digitalized ahead of many institutions in the country and developed by our own programmers, as well as the mooc.oshsu.kg portal with online learning resources. The process of obtaining student certificates has also been fully automated. This is a modern step that saves your time and ensures transparency.

As part of our commitment to student welfare, all newly admitted students, as well as other students, can receive a completely free medical examination at OshSU’s modern medical clinic. Our doctors at this clinic have successfully performed 8 kidney transplantations and 5 liver transplant operations.

A new, modern seven-story medical clinic in Osh is now fully constructed and preparing to open. You will study in a major medical and scientific facility of national importance!

For young people who wish to receive an international education, the doors of the world are open to you. During the year, more than 30 international agreements and more than 20 double-degree programs in 22 specialties were signed. Students can study for two years at OshSU and two years abroad and earn two diplomas simultaneously. The first graduates have already received their diplomas.

Dear students, you also have the opportunity to study at more than 300 universities in over 30 countries through academic mobility programs.

In cooperation with a Chinese company, the “Future Generation HUB” robotics center is operating. With the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Institute of Science Tokyo, an automated scientific station for continuous monitoring of air quality in Osh has been launched at Osh State University. The station continuously monitors air pollution and automatically collects data. The information obtained will help accurately determine the level of air pollution in Osh and conduct scientific research into environmental problems.

In cooperation with China’s Tianjin Transportation Technical College, the university plans to open a Lu Ban Workshop in the new academic year. This international innovation center will train modern specialists in two key areas that are currently in high demand in the country’s labor market:

1. Logistics: As construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway begins and Kyrgyzstan becomes a transit hub, the program will provide world-standard training in international freight transportation and supply chain management.
2. New Energy Vehicles (Electric Vehicles): As part of the transition to a green economy, the program will train modern engineering and technical specialists in electric vehicle servicing, repair, and high-tech systems.

To motivate our students, OshSU provides some of the highest student awards in the country. This year, 9 of our students received Presidential Scholarships. In addition, 10 students who received the university’s “Atuuldik Scholarship,” known as OshSU’s internal “Nobel Prize,” will receive 12,000 soms per month for one year. Furthermore, awards are presented annually to the OshSU TOP-20 students and recipients of the Kanybek Isakov Scholarship.

We are also achieving major successes in sports. Our student Zhantoro Mirzaliyev became a world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, becoming the sixth world champion in the history of Kyrgyzstan! Our professional volleyball, basketball, and tennis clubs are achieving leading positions in the country. The only professional football club established among higher education institutions, “OshSU” Football Club, is successfully competing in the country’s Premier League. The Football Federation has allocated 7 hectares of land to the university, where a modern football academy and a large sports complex will be built.

Gülperi Zhumatayeva, a student of OshSU’s “Kara-Suu” Gymnasium, received a “Golden Certificate,” demonstrating that our university successfully implements all stages of education, from preschool to doctoral studies.

Today, OshSU has one of the country’s largest modern educational infrastructures, including 32 academic buildings, 2 medical clinics, 10 student and faculty dormitories, the Congress Resort OshSU complex, and the “Ümüt” boarding house on Lake Issyk-Kul.

Dear first-year students! You are the beating heart of OshSU and the bright future of our university and our country!
