OshSU Opens Scientific Station to Monitor Air Quality
The opening ceremony was held on September 10 and was attended by Deputy Mayor Masuda Aidarbekova, Rector Kudayberdi Kozhobekov, JICA Kyrgyzstan Chief Representative Kotaro Nishigata, representatives of the Institute of Science Tokyo, and project participants.
The station continuously monitors air pollution and automatically collects data. The data will help accurately determine the level of air pollution in Osh and conduct scientifically based research into environmental problems.
During the opening ceremony, the station’s operation and technical capabilities were demonstrated.
It should be noted that the IRCAPS research center, dedicated to studying air pollution, was opened at Osh State University on November 18, 2025. The five-year project has been implemented since 2025. Its main partner is the Institute of Science Tokyo. The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), with government support in the field of science and technology.
The IRCAPS center conducts research on air pollution and carries out continuous monitoring. The collected scientific data will also be used for educational purposes. In the future, data obtained from the new station will be used to assess the environmental situation in Osh and develop measures aimed at improving air quality.
