Osh State University has agreed to strengthen its cooperation with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). On July 1, Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov met with UN Women consultants Lira Duyshebaeva and Zharkyn Mambetova.
During the meeting, the participants discussed gender equality, women's empowerment, youth leadership development, and the implementation of joint projects.
The consultants presented the Zero VAWG Initiative (Eliminating All Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls), which is currently being implemented in 35 rural municipalities across all seven regions of Kyrgyzstan, as well as in the cities of Bishkek and Osh. The project aims to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls while strengthening cooperation with government institutions in this area.
The meeting also focused on supporting students' and young people's startup projects through the University's Business Park, promoting entrepreneurship, and encouraging women's business initiatives.
"The University places great emphasis not only on providing high-quality education but also on developing students' leadership skills, social responsibility, and entrepreneurial competencies. Gender equality, inclusive education, and women's economic empowerment are among the key priorities of both the national policy and the University's development strategy. Therefore, Osh State University is interested in further expanding its cooperation with UN Women," said Rector Kudayberdi Kozhobekov.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to further expand their cooperation in promoting gender equality, developing youth potential, supporting entrepreneurship, and preventing violence.
