On January 27, a memorial rally was traditionally held at the Eternal Flame of the Memorial Complex dedicated to soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The event marked the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade.

Millions of threads connect Kyrgyzstan with the great city on the Neva River. The date of January 27 is a memorable one for all citizens of Kyrgyzstan, reminding them of losses, resilience, love and loyalty, nobility, unity, and a shared heroic feat — as well as the circles of hell endured by the people of Leningrad.

Senior lecturer of the Department of World Literature of the Russian Philology Division at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communications of Osh State University, Z.Ya. Miskichekova, prepared a performance by philology students for the memorial rally. The program included poems by Kyrgyz poets dedicated to the Siege of Leningrad, as well as the songs “Leningradki” performed by fourth-year student Aichurek Alipbekova and “Beri shinel, poshli domoy” performed by third-year student Zhanyzak Mamatkerimov. A monologue of the Earth about wars from Ch.T. Aitmatov’s novella “Mother’s Field” was recited by second-year student Tazanur Maksatbekova.

The students’ performance left no one indifferent. Participants of the rally expressed their gratitude to the students for their heartfelt and moving presentation.
