The 7th International Film Forum of Women Directors opened today, December 2, at Osh State University.
The event, which will continue in Osh until December 5, focuses on women's contributions to cinema, environmental issues, education, and the relationship between climate change, youth, and mountain regions.
This year's forum is dedicated to the People’s Artist of Kyrgyzstan, actress Gulsara Azhibekova, in support of the five-year mountain regions development program and in honor of International Mountain Day. The opening and closing ceremonies are being held at the main building of Osh State University, while film screenings take place at the Semetey Cinema.
As part of the “Women’s View” program, 16 films created by women directors from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan will be screened. In addition, nine films will be presented within the “Environmental and Social Activism” program. For the first time, the forum includes a dedicated section of environmental films.
The event is organized by the Department of Cinematography of Osh State University and the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek. Abdizhapar Akkulov, Director of the University’s Consulting Center for Mountain Ecosystem Protection and Green Innovation, is participating as an expert.
