Our University’s Inter-Agency Center for Air Pollution Research has been elected co-chair of the Working Group on Air Quality under Kyrgyzstan’s Development Partners Coordination Council for 2026.
The Center will implement this mission in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme.
The Working Group serves as a national platform for strengthening collaboration between international organizations, government agencies, and civil society to reduce air pollution, protect the environment, and safeguard public health. Its members include the Asian Development Bank, World Health Organization, World Bank, UNICEF, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, Korea International Cooperation Agency, and the International Organization for Migration.
As co-chair, the University’s Center will focus on coordinating air quality initiatives in 2026, linking scientific research with policymaking, promoting evidence-based decisions, and engaging young researchers and students in environmental studies.
Doctor of Medical Sciences Aiperi Asanbek kyzy has been appointed as the responsible representative for cooperation with the Working Group. She is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation at the Tokyo Institute of Science.
The Inter-Agency Research Center for Air Pollution Studies was established at Osh State University in 2025.
