Professor Turdumat Kadyrov of Osh State University and associate professors Sabyr Arstanov, Talantbek Shaano and Nursultan Kubanychbek uulu returned from field research on ethnic Kyrgyz in Uzbekistan.
The trip took place from 10 to 13 October. During the trip, the historians collected historical and ethnographic data from Kyrgyz people living in the Sardob and Myrza-Abat districts of the Syr Darya region, as well as in the cities of Gulistan and Zhan-Zher, by conducting interviews. In addition to local residents, Nadir Zhanibekov, a deputy of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, leaders of the Kyrgyz diaspora in the region, and prominent businessmen took part in the research.
This research project aims to study the history, culture and social life of ethnic Kyrgyz people living outside Kyrgyzstan. The project is not limited to Uzbekistan, but covers Kyrgyz diasporas in countries such as Tajikistan, China, Afghanistan and Turkey.
The research will be continued in stages and conducted in other countries. The research project was funded by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan.
