On February 18, Osh Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev met with the rectors of the city’s higher education institutions. The conference took place at Osh Technological University, with Osh State University Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov among the participants.
Kozhobekov highlighted the university’s ongoing projects, including the construction of a seven-story medical clinic on the site of the former Osh City Hospital. He also noted that the university’s infrastructure is fully equipped to support liver transplant operations.
Additionally, he discussed efforts to develop a new breed of Ala-Too sheep at the university’s veterinary clinic and outlined environmental initiatives aimed at restoring a landslide-affected area in Zhalpak-Tash, Uzgen district.
Mayor Toktorbaev addressed plans in these areas, stressing the need for collaboration in tackling the city’s challenges.
As part of his visit, the mayor also toured several innovative centers focused on advanced technology in Osh. He explored the newly established “Central Asian Spatial Analysis and Remote Computing” and “Central Asian Mineral Resource Innovation” centers, which use satellite technology to monitor land resources, environmental conditions, and other regional factors.
During the meeting, agreements were made with educational institutions to enhance the student campus infrastructure in southeastern Osh and address traffic congestion issues.
