Osh State University Hosts Discussion on Climate Change Impact on Ecosystems

On February 6, Osh State University held a discussion on Kyrgyzstan’s climate and the effects of climate change on the country’s water resources and ecosystems, as well as those of Central Asia.

The event brought together the  along with faculty members, experts, researchers, and technical specialists.

Experts from the University of Central Asia and Osh State University presented their studies on adaptation strategies and regional environmental conditions. Discussions also covered the impact of climate change on public health and the achievement of sustainable development goals.

This meeting is part of a broader series of events taking place in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan under the Sustainable Development Program for Mountain Regions. The program addresses key regional challenges, including climate resilience, glacier conservation, sustainable economic growth, and the incorporation of traditional knowledge into climate adaptation efforts.

The event was co-organized by the University of Central Asia and Osh State University’s Department of International Relations.
