On June 5, a 12-member delegation from the University of Missouri (USA), led by Vice President for International Programs Mary Stegmaier, visited Osh State University and held a meeting with university officials, including Rector Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov.

The delegation also featured Kim Bissell, Dean of the School of Mass Communications at Louisiana State University, along with professors and students from the University of Missouri.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ongoing cooperation under the memorandum of understanding signed earlier between the two institutions. Rector Kozhobekov shared information about Osh State University and expressed gratitude to Mary Stegmaier for her active role in fostering partnerships with American universities. Discussions focused on academic collaboration, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, educational project implementation, and academic mobility programs.

Throughout the visit, the delegation is expected to meet with Osh State University faculty and students, present opportunities for academic mobility to U.S. universities, and provide guidance on application procedures, study options, and experience sharing. Several guest lectures by visiting professors are also scheduled.

The University of Missouri and Osh State University formalized their cooperation on January 13, 2022. Since then, annual visits by delegations led by Mary Stegmaier have become a tradition, with regular guest lectures and joint academic activities.

In the upcoming academic year, Associate Professor Saikal Ibraimova, Director of the International Relations Department at Osh State University, will conduct research at the University of Missouri under the Fulbright Program—an initiative designed to enhance the academic expertise of Kyrgyz scholars.

Founded in 1839, the University of Missouri currently enrolls over 30,000 students across 270 academic programs.
