The International Film Festival of Young Filmmakers from CIS countries, titled “Sulaiman-Too,” has officially begun at Osh State University. The festival received more than 200 submissions from aspiring filmmakers in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. After an initial review, twenty films advanced to the second round of the competition.

On May 12-13, a panel of jurors led by Tynay Ibragimov—People’s Artist of Kyrgyzstan, director, and cameraman—will evaluate the finalists, alongside audience input. The winners will be announced on May 13 and will receive statuettes, diplomas, and monetary awards across various categories. The festival program also includes master classes, panel discussions, and guided tours.

The primary aim of the festival is to foster the creative potential of young directors and screenwriters from the CIS and to encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among them.

The initiative was launched by the Film Academy at the Institute of Pedagogy, Arts and Journalism of Osh State University, in partnership with the Department of Cinematography under the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
