Ulugbek Erkebaev, Head of the Department of Applied Informatics and Information Security at the Institute of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering and Information Technologies; Associate Professor Omurbek Imaraliev; Suyunbek Esenbai uulu, Director of the Computer Center; and Rabshanbek Uraimov, Director of the Information Technologies and Network Maintenance Center, participated in an international cybersecurity training programme in Pisa, Italy. They gained experience in adapting educational programmes to European standards.

The training was held from October 26 to 30 at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna University within the framework of the Cyber4CA project under the Erasmus+ programme.

During the five-day training, participants explored European practices in cybersecurity education and learned about scientific research, cooperation with industry and innovative teaching methods. They also attended a masterclass on cybersecurity of smart systems and visited the university’s specialized laboratories.

The main focus of the training was adapting cybersecurity courses to the professional skills framework used in Europe. Participants worked on identifying the knowledge and skills students should acquire through the courses and developing methods to assess their learning outcomes and competencies. The prepared courses were also discussed with experts from partner universities. In addition, the participants addressed student workload calculation, the use of the credit transfer and accumulation system, and the organization of academic exchanges.

The training sessions were conducted by experts from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, the Technical University of Madrid in Spain, and the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest in Romania.

In the final days, participants presented the courses they had developed and took part in a pilot evaluation of these courses. At the end of the programme, OshSU representatives received certificates of participation.

Cyber4CA is an international project aimed at developing higher education in cybersecurity in Central Asia. Its goal is to design and launch a master's degree programme at universities in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan that meets European standards and prepares specialists in line with labour market demands.

The project involves universities and education ministries from the three Central Asian countries, as well as higher education institutions from Italy, Spain, Belgium and Romania.

The experience gained in Italy will be used by OshSU's Department of Applied Informatics and Information Security to develop a new master's programme and adapt existing courses to European requirements. This work will help prepare students with the knowledge and practical skills in demand in the labour market.

OshSU is also working on establishing a cybersecurity laboratory. Cooperation within the Cyber4CA project will continue.
