A Workshop on Chingiz Aitmatov’s Legacy
On October 28, an interactive workshop titled “Chingiz Aitmatov and the Historical Memory of the Kyrgyz People: Past, Present and Future” was held at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of Osh State University.
Students discussed the significance of the literary legacy of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov, the preservation of historical memory, and the transmission of national values to future generations. Special attention was given to the mankurt figure in Aitmatov’s works. Through this image, participants explored the loss of historical memory and disconnection from spiritual and cultural roots, examining the relevance of these issues in contemporary society.
The interactive session aimed to develop students’ critical thinking and deepen their interest in historical and cultural heritage.
The workshop was organized by Professor Amanay Akmatova for first-year students of the Eurasian National University (ENU) educational programme as part of the “History of Kyrgyzstan” course.
