Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, Japanese volunteers will begin working at the Institute of Oriental Studies of Osh State University. The agreement was reached during a meeting with coordinator Tahira Yukiko from Japan International Cooperation Agency.
During the visit, the parties discussed improving Japanese language education, expanding cultural exchange, and strengthening practical lessons. The arrival of JICA volunteers will help students learn Japanese directly from native speakers and become more familiar with the culture of Japan.
Currently, about 20 students are studying Japanese at the institute, and two of them are participating in academic mobility programs in Japan. The institute also operates a Japanese Language and Culture Center that regularly organizes language and cultural activities.
