On March 19, students of the Industrial Pedagogical College visited the historical cemetery Sary-Mazar in Kara-Suu, where Alymbek Datka and Kurmanjan Datka are buried.
They received information about the life paths, political activities, and contributions of these historical figures to Kyrgyz statehood. At the graves, they recited the Quran and honored the memory of the historical figures.
The event aimed to increase students’ interest in history and foster respect for the heritage of their ancestors. The organizer was Gulumkan Tumenbaeva, head of the Social Sciences and Pre-Military Training cycle.
Sary-Mazar is located on the outskirts of Osh and holds a special place in the history of Kyrgyzstan. Prominent statesmen of the Kyrgyz people, Alymbek Datka (1799–1862) and the “Queen of Alay” Kurmanjan Datka (1811–1907), are buried there. Their mausoleums are considered national historical monuments and will be preserved as heritage for future generations.
