The Center for Foreign Languages Hosted a Quiz for International Mother Language Day

On February 20, in celebration of International Mother Language Day, the Center for Foreign Languages organized the “Brain Ring” quiz competition at Osh State University. A total of 16 teams representing various institutes, faculties, and colleges participated in the event.

The competition featured 35 thought-provoking questions covering topics such as the history of International Mother Language Day, global languages, Kyrgyz proverbs and sayings about the native language, and the law on the state language.

In the final rankings, the “Aura+” team from the Institute of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Information Technology secured first place. The “Sherlock Holmes” team from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication took second place, while the “Intellect” team from the Institute of Natural Science, Physical Education, Tourism, and Agricultural Technologies earned third place. The top teams were awarded diplomas and cash prizes.

Additionally, outstanding participants were recognized in special categories, including “Best Player,” “Young Philologist,” “Akyl Kara Chach,” “Dilgir Student,” and “Akylkoy Student.”

The quiz was conducted in Kyrgyz and Russian by Semetey Amiraliev, the Director of the Center for Foreign Languages. He emphasized that the competition aimed to showcase students’ linguistic perspectives, foster respect for their native language, and enhance logical thinking. He also noted that the university’s professional community actively supported the event.
