The Institute of Oriental Studies at Osh State University has agreed to develop cooperation with higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and seek support for researchers to conduct studies in the country’s archives. The matter was discussed at a meeting held in Tashkent on October 27.

During the visit, Joldoshbek Botonoev, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, and Sultanbek Matnazarov, Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, met with Duishonkul Chotonov, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan. They discussed strengthening bilateral ties between the institute and Uzbek universities, as well as creating opportunities for Kyrgyz orientalists and historians to conduct academic research in archives.

The parties agreed to cooperate in these areas and support scientific research. These efforts will contribute to the study of historical documents, strengthen academic ties, and promote cooperation between higher education institutions in the two countries.

For reference: Duishonkul Chotonov previously delivered an online guest lecture to students, master’s students, and lecturers of OshSU’s Institute of Oriental Studies. During the lecture, titled “Diplomatic Relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan: History, Current State and Prospects,” the Ambassador also answered questions from participants.
