On October 22, an international expert-analytical forum titled "Russia and Kyrgyzstan in Greater Eurasia: Past, Present, and Future" was held at the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
The forum was attended by representatives from leading universities, scientific institutions, and expert centers in Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Participants discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two nations, regional security, their shared historical heritage, and pressing issues regarding development in Eurasia.
The plenary session addressed the future of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation, water security in Central Asia, regional collaboration within a multipolar world, and the development of humanitarian education. The forum provided an opportunity for members of the academic community to exchange views and analyze historical experience in the context of contemporary international processes.
During a roundtable discussion focused on history, Baibolot Abytov—a professor at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Osh State University—delivered a presentation titled "Kyrgyzstan within the Soviet Modernization Project: Development Experiences and Challenges (1922–1945)." The presentation was dedicated to examining the development experience of Kyrgyzstan during the Soviet era—along with the associated challenges—from a scholarly perspective. It also sparked a discussion among experts, facilitating a comprehensive analysis of historical processes and an exchange of views.
Historians and researchers from the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, the Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, and other academic and educational institutions participated in the discussion. They explored the specific characteristics of Soviet modernization, the formation of Kyrgyzstan’s statehood, national-territorial demarcation, the development of infrastructure and irrigation systems, and issues surrounding the objective study of historical heritage.
