Osh State University has announced a competition for a scholarship named after the outstanding Kyrgyz educator, Doctor of Philology and Professor Kanybek Isakov.
Full-time students of the university's institutes, faculties and colleges are eligible to participate in the competition, taking into account their academic achievements, participation in international or national creative competitions, creative activity, as well as activity in social and cultural activities.
The deadline for submitting applications is 15 November 2025. The first stage will take place at institutes, faculties and colleges, and the second stage will be held by the university commission. Based on the results of the selection process, the best students will receive a one-time scholarship named after Kanybek Isakov and a certificate.
The total prize fund for the scholarship is 100,000 soms and is financed by the family of Kanybek Isakov. This initiative is organised to honour the professor's work in the field of education and to support the creative activities of young people.
Kanybek Isakov was born on 4 June 1969 in the Nookat district of the Osh region. He received his higher education at Osh State University. From 2006 to 2011, he served as rector of Osh State Pedagogical University (formerly Osh Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute). From 2011 to 2019, he headed Osh State University. In 2019–2020, he was Minister of Education.
Kanybek Isakov passed away on 12 November 2020.
