The Department of ”American Studies and Translation" was established on August 28, 2006 on the basis of the resolution of the Academic Council of Osh State University. The department is focused on the theoretical and practical knowledge of students in English language and trainlinguistic-translators

Aipova G.B, Ph.D., associate professor is the head of the department with 23 years of work experience and has been managing the department since 01.09.2013.

The goal of the department is to train a linguist with general and professional competencies, who has wide communication skills in the official and English (German and French) languages and able to translatethe text with the help of modern technologies in thecompetitivelabor market.

Our Department membershave been carried out systematic work to improve their qualification. Most of the 28 Department members have been improved their knowledge by actively participating in conferences, seminars and trainings organized by various foreign and domestic organizations and within the framework of the department′s program made research trips: 8 teachers under the ITEC program (India), 4 teachers under the Mevlana program (Turkey) and 3 teachers under the Erasmus+ program (Europe).

The work programs in the disciplines were approved by the Department with the indication of the competencies of the expected results, the preparation of annotations and the discussion of the qualitative construction of programs. Each our department member compile questions, tests, handouts for modules moreover practical classes, the plan of open lessons, the plan of lectures and seminars, texts, summaries arediscussed, approved and published. To organize each current, intermediate and final check,our Department memberformed banks and variants of test tasks (doc-file) and postedin the AVN portal, as well as in group and cathedral journals.

Our Department member regularly attend research and methodological conferences and seminars. The department is working on its topic.
