In 2001, at the suggestion of the head of the department "Applied Mathematics and Informatics" of the Faculty of "Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies" Sopuev A.A. and by order of the rector of Osh State University No. 121 dated June 1, 2001, the department "Applied Mathematics and Informatics" was divided into three departments: "Applied Mathematics and Informatics", "Programming", "General Informatics". A. Sopuev remained the head of the department "Applied Mathematics and Informatics", and the head of the department "General Informatics" - Ph.D., Professor Alymkulov K.A., head of the Department "Programming" - Ph.D. - m. i.k. In 2002, the Department of Programming was transferred to the newly opened Faculty of Computer Technologies. and in 2006 he entered the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology. Starting from the 2007-2008 academic year, the Department of Programming merged with the Department of Applied and Computer Mathematics and became known as the Department of Programming. On August 28, 2020, based on the meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, the name of the department "Programming" was changed to "Information Systems and Programming".

On December 8, 2004, on the basis of the Department of Programming, by order № 265-А of the rector of Osh State University, a new department was created called "Information Technologies and Automated Systems".

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhuraev Abubakir Mukhtarovich was appointed head of the Department of Programming .

In 2005-2007, the department was headed by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Abdimanap Ziyaydinovich Pirmatov .

Starting from the 2007-2008 academic year, the Department of Programming merged with the Department of Applied and Computer Mathematics, the head of the department was appointed Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Gulzhamal Mamatovna Anarbayeva .

The department became a graduating department in the specialties of ETASPC, ICT, IIBA as part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology and was focused on long-term development.

Starting from the 2008-2009 academic year, Asylbekov Taalaibek Dukonbaevich , candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor, was appointed head of the programming department .

In 2011-2019, the head of the programming department was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Adakhimzhan Sopuevich Sopuev .

From September 5, 2020, the name of the department "Programming" was changed to "Information systems and programming" and the department was headed by the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor Arkabaev Nurkasym Kylychbekovich .

Since May 30, 2021, the head is Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Toktorbaev Aibek Mamadalievich .
