Under this title, on January 16, 2018, within the framework of the Winter Camp at the Faculty of Russian Philology, Department of World Literature a day devoted to great day was held. For schoolchildren, an educational and cognitive program dedicated to the writer`s year was offered. More than 100 high school students from 11 schools of Osh and Naukat, Karasu, Uzgen, Aravan districts of Osh oblast took part in the event.

Students actively took part in an interactive discussion onthe image of Jamiliya and the wolves of Akbar and Tashchaynar from the novel "Plakha". For them, a documentary film was shown, a book exhibition and an exhibition of previously unpublished photos on the life and work of Ch. Aitmatov were launched. The event involved direct participation of schoolchildren, which was reflected in their performances - dramatizations, expressive reading of fragments of works and poems about the writer. Distinguished students were awarded with diplomas and memorable gifts.

Along with this, the schoolchildren got acquainted with the departments of the faculty, classrooms, specialized classrooms, Internet classes, an independent testing center, a library and hostels of the faculty.

Participants of the winter camp came up with the initiative to build a monument to Chyngiz Aytmatov in Osh city, in connection with which, to announce a competition about choosing a place for the monument and raising money under the slogan "The people of Aitmatov".
